MISSION STATEMENT:
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the organization is to preserve the art and heritage of rudimental drumming.
GOALS:
The scope and goals are to provide fellowship and time for drummers to get together and “DRUM”. Goals will include a yearly convention at a central location for all to drum for a weekend together. Eventually we could even attempt a trip to the Swiss boomerang and drumming conventions. In Canada CADRE has had a similar organization which started in 1996 and includes approximately 40 drummers. We may get together with them at some time.
MEMBERSHIP:
This is open to Rudimental Drummers both snare and bass. Each state would be designated as a Chapter with a representative from each Chapter running that state group. These representatives would make up the Board of Directors. Each Chapter could also work on their own as far as rehearsals, taking parades, exhibitions, etc. In order to get the Organization started I will take it upon myself to act as President and my wife Barbara will be Secretary/Treasurer. States involved at this point would be PA, NJ, NY, OH, MD, VA, GA, DC and FL. Other states can be added as we grow.
COMMUNICATION:
We will send out two newsletters per year to all members including copies of drum solos. These solos could be used to start a library of music and parts that all members could play together within individual chapters and at our yearly convention. In the newsletter we could introduce members with a short bio for each person, picture, etc.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
This is not meant to be time consuming nor costly. Expenses would primarily involve membership maintenance, mailing, copying and newsletter costs. Eventually, we may want to expand expenses to get caps, shirts, etc. We currently have over 60 paid members. If you know of other rudimental drummers that might be interested please contact them and ask them to contact me with their name, address, etc.
Objectives:
- Provide an atmosphere and community for rudimental drummers to get together and exchange ideas. Play solos including traditional and advanced forms of rudimental drumming.
- Provide a library of rudimental solos for the enjoyment of all members
- Establish an historic account of the heritage and history of rudimental drumming.
- Exchange information with the CADRE Canadian Drumming organization, The Percussive Arts Society, the Company of Fifers and Drummer, The Swiss Drumming organization, etc.
